Normative References Used in Preparing Qatar Standard (QS)

In preparing its own draft standards QGOSM's Department of Standards and Metrology refers to plenty of (complementary) Arab, foreign and international standards available in its Library and Technical Information unit (mainly set up for this purpose).
The key references among these are:

  • International Organization for Standardization (ISO)
• Codex
• International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC)
• International Organization of Legal Metrology (OIML)
• American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM)
• British Standards Institute (BSI)

• Deutsches Institut für Normung (German Institute for Standardization) (DIN)
• Association française de normalization (French Organization for Standardization) (AFNOR)
Egyptian Specifications (ES)
• Jordanian Specifications (JS)
• Specifications of Saudi Arabia (SSA)

To obtain necessary information, QGOSM's Department of Standards and Metrology directly contacts any of the above mentioned bodies through the Internet, with a view to keep the Qatari Standards(QS) matching with the world's progress in science and technology areas.
