The standardization science has undergone an
unprecedented rise in the recent years. Its disciplines have much
expanded and increased in number to keep pace with the fast moving
transformation in the area of modern sciences and technologies. It
is no longer restricted to only specifying industrial commodities,
it rather goes as further as to cover mostly all kinds of products
and scopes of services considering, in particular, the development
of a wide range of comprehensive quality concepts. The signifcance
of standards has intensified thanks to their tight link with local,
Regional and international trade axis. Undoubtedly, all areas of
industry and economy need technical data that might take long to
access. Hence, QGOSM is of the opinion that launching its own
website is a top priority for us to highlight the standardization
activities, emphasize all-out quality concepts, identifying their
key requirements and raising public awareness of standardization.
This is a new on-line facility now in place to support the efforts
meant for applying the standards which contribute to promoting
national industries, curbing production costs, improving exports and
optimizing the quality of products. Quality has become, as a matter
of fact, a major factor of fierce competition and access to global
markets based on the rules and principles of the World Trade
Organization (WTO).
We intend the website to be a right step forward in various aspects
of standardization, play a vital role in overstepping the barriers
impeding the smooth flow of mutual trade and promote the
knowledge-based methods and procedures aiming to ensure the
consumer's protection. Coming to an end of with my speech, I shall
all but voice my heartfelt gratefulness to all those who have had a
hand in setting the ground-work for this website, extended to my
fellow Heads of Depts. for the amazing efforts reflected in the
topics that have enriched the site with bright technical
